The Story
NFL star Cameron “Cam” Heyward is the subject of a new documentary feature from Deon Taylor and Roxanne Avent Taylor's Hidden Empire Sports Collective. Taylor directs, producing alongside Roxanne Avent Taylor, Ephraim Salaam, and Heyward himself through his newly launched production company, Iron 97 Productions.
At its heart, the film is a father-son story. It explores the deep bond Cam shared with his late father, NFL legend Craig “Ironhead” Heyward — one of the most feared running backs of the 1990s, known for his brute strength and punishing style. Craig died of brain cancer at 39, when Cam was just a high school sophomore.
Cam went on to carry his father's legacy forward, drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and quickly becoming one of the premier defensive linemen in the game. Years later, his younger brother Connor joined him in Pittsburgh — extending the Heyward name across two generations of the franchise.

Heyward's path into film follows his participation in the NFL Career Tour, the professional development program hosted by Hidden Empire Film Group and Skydance Sports that gives players insight into the entertainment industry and direct access to film and TV executives.
